Set in a quaint rural village, the eccentric old Dr. Coppelius crafts a captivating, life-like doll he names Coppélia. Franz, a young man of the village, mistakes Coppélia for a real person and becomes 

infatuated by her mysterious beauty. He flirts exuberantly, sparking the jealousy of his true love, Swanilda. Deception & mischief abound as Swanilda and her friends sneak into Dr. Coppelius’s workshop, setting the stage 

for a delightful tale of mistaken identities and heartwarming revelations. 

The world premiere of Coppélia was at the Paris Opera Ballet in 1870. With glorious dancing, life-sized dolls, and exquisite silliness, it 

has remained a favorite among ballet lovers the world over. Performed 

in two-acts, the Borderlands Ballet Company, a New Mexico-based semi-professional company, recreates the classic with mesmerizing 

choreography, bold athleticism, lively mazurkas, and eloquent displays of
