Reckless Kelly: One hot package of Red Dirt, Texas country. As Music Row magazine proclaimed, in a perfect world “Reckless Kelly is what country radio would sound like.”

In their 20th year, Reckless Kelly continues to do what’s made them among the best in the Texas music scene, balancing roots country and rock with original songs centered around rousing and introspective melodies, and dynamic musicianship. Their September 2016 album release (their 9th) Sunset Motel has already been named the #10 Best Essential Album of 2016 and scored a 2017 Grammy nomination. This was a follow-up to their Grammy-winning, ballad rich Long Night Moon – with such tartly honest roots-rocking tunes about heartache and indecision as “How Can You Love Him (You Don’t Even Like Him),” “Moment in the Sun,” and “One More Last Time,” as well as the social commentary of “Radio” and the upbeat honky tonk urgency of “Volcano.”

Led by the group’s founders, Idaho natives Willy Braun (vocals/guitar), Cody Braun (vocals/fiddle/mandolin/harmonica) with Jay Nazz (drums), David Abetya (lead guitar/vocals) and Joe Miller (bass), the band took its Reckless Kelly name from the legend of Ned Kelly, the notorious 19th century Australian outlaw. When the guys relocated to Austin in 1996 and unveiled their explosive live concerts, they quickly carved their own niche as authentic outlaw country. Early on, Robert Earl Keen, a Texas legend himself, took them under his wing and became their first manager, and such alt-roots kingsmen as Joe Ely sang their praises throughout the press. In Austin, they listened, watched and interacted with the creative dynamos of the scene and joined them in a redefinition of what contemporary country music had become. Theirs was gritty, uncompromising and convincing, helping to turn country music real again.

Reckless Kelly’s string of critically acclaimed albums – Under the Table and Above the Sun (2003),
Wicked Twisted Road (2005), Bulletproof (2008), Somewhere in Time (2010), Grammy-nominated Good Luck & True Love (2011) and Grammy-winning Long Night Moon (2013) – set a standard of reliable excellence and commitment to an instinctive vision of Americana.

No band exemplifies the broad genre better. Check them out live in this one-night only concert
